On June 25th, the first China Insurance and Pension Integration and Development Forum hosted by the People's Daily Health and Dajia Insurance was held in Beijing.

In the context of accelerating aging, the government, scholars, and enterprises got together to explore the path for the insurance industry to help the elderly care service system. Jianjun Wang, member of the Party Group of the National Health Commission, Executive Deputy Director of the National Office on Aging, Chairman of the China Association of Aging, Wei Xing, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the China Insurance Industry Association, and Xiaofeng He, Chairman of Dajia Insurance Group, and other guests said that the response to the aging of the population must be changed first thinking. To carry out the ageing business, one is to establish a positive outlook on ageing; the other is to practice healthy ageing; and the third is to coordinate the development of the ageing industry.

Dr. Ian Hou, President of GRS Asia, gave a keynote speech, shared the experience of GRS in the United States and China, and participated in the roundtable discussion.

Jianjun Wang mentioned that to deal with the aging of the population, we must first change our thinking. The elderly who enter the second half of their lives don’t want to use their residual heat but to discover their potential.

Wei Xing in pointed out that in the process of the integration of insurance and pension, commercial pension insurance should find a good positioning.

Xiaofeng He said that the insurance industry has inherent advantages in supporting the development of elderly care. More than 10 insurance institutions have invested in nearly 60 elderly care community projects and provided more than 80,000 beds in more than 20 provinces and cities across the country, giving full play to the role of catalyst and adhesive of commercial insurance.

■  Dr. Ian Hou said that the pension industry is not a single industry. It has many industry segments according to industrial chain, health status, geography and payment ability. Different segments need accurate corresponding pension products, and there are different requirements for hardware environment, service and payment.

■ He shared with the guests the typical business models of medical, rehabilitation and nursing of GRS: Spring Power rehabilitation hospital, rehabilitation department of specialized hospital, rehabilitation department of nursing home, rehabilitation department of international clinic, outpatient rehabilitation, etc. There are many operations or technical output cooperation sites of different business models in the United States and China.

■ "Take the cities with high income and consumption like Beijing as an example. To provide high-quality elderly care services in the city, the charge should be between RMB12,000 and RMB20,000, depending on the degree of care required. At present, the public can afford about RMB7,000. If the gap between social insurance and commercial insurance can be filled together, it will release the market space of many high-quality pension products. The integration of insurance and pension will make the second half of life more wonderful like a ball game! "
